Referring Providers

Dear Colleagues,

If you have a patient you would like to refer to me for maternity care, I want to make this as easy as possible for you.

Please send a regular referral to my office by fax at 613 228 2856. Please send along any relevant results that you have and I will take it from there. Should complications arise in pregnancy I will refer to or consult with my obstetrics colleagues as necessary. If I am unable to accept your consultation for any reason, I will make suggestions on who to redirect to.

• I accept patients at any time of pregnancy. I like to meet patients by at least the 32 week mark so we can forge a relationship.

• I do accept VBAC/TOLAC patients

• I do not accept patients pregnant with multiples

• I do not accept Quebec patients

I endeavour to see your patients within four weeks of referral. I will send you a consult note and your patient’s delivery summary.

As P codes are out of basket, referral will NOT affect your access bonus if you are in a rostered model. My call team and I make a point to avoid billing any in-hospital codes that could affect your access bonus. As family physicians in rostered models, we get it.

Fitting newborns and new mothers into your week on an urgent basis can be difficult. For this reason I offer to see mother-baby dyads in the immediate postpartum period to assist with weight gain and breastfeeding troubleshooting. I bill these as a P008, which is out of basket. If you prefer to see your own dyads in the immediate postpartum period, please let me and your patient know.
